"Dangerous Currents and Fins"
Chatham, . . . famous for its clams, and the island of
Monomoy. The bay so pleasant - - - it has been given the
name. For years, seals so cute, were long since driven
away. Driven away so fisherman could make hay, and the
tourist could swim without worry in the bay.
They had been driven away by ancestors from the past,
so the Great White Sharks, with tell tale fins, would follow
along, and eat one or two with glee. On dangerous currents,
the seals did flee. Chased by mouths with big white teeth
you see. And thus small businesses could begin to survive,
with tourists and patrons that were at last worry free.
Now the seals have returned, followed by the mouths
with the big white teeth. Patrons can no longer eat their
clams by the shore, . . . worry free for their lives, as they
had once before.

"Nantucket"
In the midst of waters, there was a far away island - - - so
said the native Americans, by using the word Nantucket. Little
did they know, they had started a spawning ground for jokes,
that lives on to this day. Whales allowed the settlers to stay. On
one ironic day, it was their oil that burnt the settlers out - - - forcing
them to find a new place and bay.
There once was a girl from Nantucket, . . . it was no joke, for
she was left without even a bucket. The Indian Maiden had been
forced from her homeland you see. The wealthy kept on coming,
creating an island which was no longer meant for thee, unless
you don't mind using your fortune for mere exclusivity. Surely, there
is a more empathetic place and way to live and be?

"Harbor's Allure"
Romantic harbor lights yielded to the light of day.
Sober minds throbbed from the sudden withdrawal of
their temporary escape. Some continued to cling to
what they had found, while others ran in disbelief, - - -
formulating excuses for their off and on blindness.
Boats waited patiently, for anyone with enough
fortitude and desire to head for open water. Collectively,
most simply formed their vision of beauty, allowing
people to stare at the harbor view, while reviewing
both their good and bad decisions from the night before.
As dusk rolled in, colored lights once again began
to glisten on the slowly undulating surface of the bay.
And once again, lonely souls, inspired by the beauty,
headed for the local bars for one more try, just to see
if there was a way to actually do someone some good.
It was not unlike the many mating rituals of all of
nature's creatures, studied by scientists, though
rarely were they understood.

" They Listened to the Absurd,. . . "
Their psyches had been pummeled, on a regular
basis, - - - concocted falsehoods, were absolutely
meant to deceive.
Their minds were in a losing battle with the flow of
comments paid for by the affluent, and coming from
a deranged, narcissistic, sociopathic few. By all that is
decent in your soul, keep up and at your own battle,
. . . don't lose and let it happen to you.
Hold onto your humanity. With it, one can smile when
the sun hits their face. - - - As well as look people in
eye in any given place, . . . and even hold the hands of
those starving souls when they look up at you, in your
state of grace.

" . . . LET IT BE ."
Where to go, what to do, what to say, - - - shouldn't we just
let things be as they may ? Everything looks so peaceful in the
bay. It would be a shame to place too many demands on the
scene, . . . ones that might break the order with confusion and
disarray .
There was more than enough room for all to have their
day. Many boats, would soon take each and every one along
their destined way. Again, . . . shouldn't we just let things be as they may ?

"A Nantucket Beach" Painting by DJ Marshall
"On The Way Toward A Peaceful Day"
While walking toward a secluded beach, warnings of
ticks, and all sorts of viral diseases - - - jumped up from
the sand on little square signs.
One even assured all that it was not Turkey Season. It
gave me comfort, as on that day, the lack of sleep made
me feel that I quite possibly could be one. After all, I
certainly did not want to be shot for such an absurd
reason.
Little square signs should have warned of one more
potential threat. Passing into the open, there was the sound and sights of a most fearsome pestilence. People
with new found wealth, rude disrupting, and excessive.
Hoping to buy respectability on an island which has long
been known for it. Now that's a prospect that makes a
native islander truly sweat.

"It Doesn't Get Any Better" Painting by DJ Marshall
" . . . ENVY"
- - - Colored mushrooms planted in the sand. Beneath,
a most desired place on earth and land. No one could see his success, nor feel his peace of mind. He thought how
sad it was, the desire to acquire the envy of others. It took
away from his feeling of pleasure, this envy within others,
who now could not see. There was a need for their envy, it
gave them a reason to be.
Never envy others, and you will soon see, - - - that where
you are, is exactly where you need and want to be.

"FLASHES IN THE MIND"
Perched in a life guard chair,
one soaked up the relief, from the
sand struggling against every little
motion of his feet.
The public, perhaps thought he
was their savior, - - - though his walk
on the beach was simply for the repair
of his own worn soul.
Feeling safe, the people did swim,
they hadn't a care for current, nor fin.
From his perch, the arms splashing in
water - - - created flashes in his mind.
Flashes of his life long successes and
failures, blocked the vision of the arms
flailing in the water. There was no concern
for the harmful currents and fins affecting
the rest of the world.

"Have A Seat" Painting by DJ Marshall
"Tired, Weathered, Souls"
If you feel worn down, have a seat and wiggle your
toes in warm sand. Let the seagulls take the place of
the birds of apathy. They'll guard your soul against
dangerous currents and fins. Those that came before
you have positioned the seats well.
Thoughts may wander toward pleasures they can
conceive. Its up to you to conclude whatever you want
to believe. Fantastic solutions, and angles of reality,
may not only suit you, but the rest of the world's beings
very much so too. Thus saving all of creation, from its
current, and inevitable due.
As the sun fades, while you ponder, light houses will
save your mind as it wanders. Dangerous currents and
fins will stay at bay, allowing you and yours to truly
make hay.

"Where Did The Day Go?" Painting by DJ Marshall
"The Trials of Pinkish, Purple Waters"
As with the orange, yellow waters of Wellfleet,
the pinkish, purple waters of the impending darkness, brought forth flashes. and flickers, in his mind, of his passing lifetime.
What was it to be, fear, or hopes of making it
through another day? There was fear of dark places,
which hid the true intent of all. Though, the struggle with daylight, often brought forth that which others tried to hide.
Plans to lay low in the dark purple mist unfolded.
Purple yielded way to a rush of all shades of pink.
With the flashes of light, it was so much easier to
think. There was no need for a drink. And thinking
before acting limited so much the chances of
being thought of as a missing link.
